beaches and outdoor pools
Nestled in the picturesque Saarow hills lies the 1200 hectare Scharmützelsee. "The Märkische Meer" - that is what the Brandenburg writer and poet Theodor Fontane once called the 30-metre-deep waters of the Glubigseen chain. To this day, this term is still used beyond Brandenburg's borders. And indeed: After the Schwielochsee, the Scharmützelsee is the second largest natural body of water in Brandenburg and, with its ten kilometres long and 1,5 kilometres wide, it could easily be considered a sea.

The clear water of the Scharmützelsee with its remarkable visibility of up to four meters attracts anglers and other water sports enthusiasts such as divers, sailors and bathers to the region. This means that an excellent infrastructure is provided. Around the entire lake there are restaurants, cafes, great accommodation with a lake view, boat rentals and exciting leisure activities for all ages. The spa town of Bad Saarow and the resort town of Wendisch Rietz offer everything for the perfect holiday by the lake.

Bathing areas:
  • Radlow
