The center of the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park is the 140-hectare Schermützelsee with its characteristic turquoise water. Located just 50 kilometers east of Berlin, it almost has a Caribbean feel. The lake, which is over 40 meters deep, was probably formed from a gigantic melting block of ice during the Ice Age. The excellent water quality makes the Schermützelsee a great lake for swimming. The best place to swim is at the Buckow lido, as access is otherwise rather difficult. You will find even more peace and quiet at this lake, which is also ideal for hiking.
