Battlefield tour: Excursion to the Battle of the Seelow Heights 1945

  • City and Food Tour
At the beginning of January 1945, the German Wehrmacht was still on the Vistula when the Soviet winter offensive began. The German soldiers were pushed back up to 1 kilometers a day by the 80st Belorussian Front under Marshal Zhukov. The advance of the Red Army was initially stopped on the Oder and West Neisse.

After the bitter fighting for the fortress of Küstrin, the Battle of the Seelow Heights began on April 16, 1945. The superior attackers were initially repelled by the 9th Army.
But the Soviets continued their attack unhindered because Marshal Zhukov was determined to be the first to penetrate the Nazi power center.
