Bomsdorf is the only village in the region that never belonged to the Neuzelle monastery. The circular village was first mentioned in documents in 1310. For over 400 years it was the ancestral home of the highly respected noble family von Bomsdorf. The manor changed hands frequently over the centuries. The last owner was Kurt von Kunow, who died in 1936 and was buried in the adjacent estate park.
The manor house has undergone significant renovations over the centuries. In the 18th century, a new baroque manor castle was built and in the 19th century it was rebuilt in the classicist style. The moat that once surrounded the manor house was filled in in the 20th century, which led to the house quickly falling into disrepair. Today, the manor house shines in its new old splendor. It is also affectionately called the "castle".
The adjacent park with its valuable trees, numerous small ponds and the grave of the knight's family invites you to linger.
