Wulkow comes from the Wendish language and means "wolf". Since wolves used to be common in the forests of Brandenburg, it is not surprising that there were several Wulkows in eastern Brandenburg.
In the town of Wulkow near Neuhardenberg, the castle, which belonged to the noble family von Scharpeloh from the 13th century and changed hands frequently until World War II, was used as a hospital, refugee home and also for training courses for various combines during the GDR era.
In 1992, the castle was purchased by a family of hoteliers and restored for 8 million DM. A hotel with 48 rooms, a restaurant and leisure facilities was created. Located on the edge of Märkische Schweiz, the most beautiful weddings can be celebrated there, with a champagne reception in the banquet hall or the historic library.
