castles and parks
One of the oldest parks in the Oder-Spree Lake District can be found at Diedersdorf Castle, which was built in the style of a manor house in the mid-18th century for the Kunow War Council. By the end of the Second World War, the property had changed hands three times and its appearance had changed over three stylistic periods, from Baroque to Classicism and Historicism. Fortunately, it was spared devastation at the end of the war, as it was temporarily used as a military headquarters. It is now owned by Brandenburgische Schlösser GmbH and is not open to the public.

The park behind the castle is largely natural and was extended to the Halbesee in the 19th century. Individual old trees and groups of trees, the pond with a watercourse and still perceptible sightlines indicate a former landscape park. These axes divide it into an old and a more modern part. The park is very popular as a regional excursion destination for Brandenburgers and invites you to take long walks.
