St. Marien Strausberg

Churches
The church was built between 1232 and 1250 as a three-aisled columned basilica in the style of the transition from Romanesque to Gothic. In 1252, the town was given a city wall. In the same year, a Dominican monastery was founded. In 1448, the interior was painted in late Gothic style, which was plastered over at the end of the 18th century. In 1919, this was made visible again as part of a large-scale renovation of the church and restored by Hans Burger between 1991 and 1995.
The rosewood high altar dates from 1520 and contains a depiction of the Coronation of Mary. The two-storey gallery with rich carvings was built during the Reformation. The marble baptismal font was a gift from the widow of Prawitz in 1848. The organ was built in 1929 and is by the Sauer company in Frankfurt (Oder).
