The permanent exhibition tells interesting episodes from the beginnings of the town of Fürstenberg (Oder), the traditional trades (basket and glass makers as well as boatmen) and the industrial development in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The museum was founded in 1980 and includes the departments of town history, gallery and art collection, and fire department and technology museum. Visitors receive extensive information about the development of the town of Fürstenberg (Oder) and traditional trades through exhibits and interesting episodes. In addition, exhibition modules explain the history of the glass industry in Fürstenberg (Oder) and that of the second largest prisoner of war camp in Brandenburg, STALAG III B. The majority of the exhibition rooms are reserved for the history of the new town, which was called Stalinstadt from 1953 and Eisenhüttenstadt from 1961.
