The Stasi Records Archive in Frankfurt (Oder) provides advice on the possibilities of applying for access to Stasi files. Guided tours of the Stasi Records Archive inform interested parties about working with the historical files.
Since 1994, the documentation center has been showing material under the title "Freedom for my file" that provides an insight into the history, structure and working methods of the Ministry for State Security (MfS), with particular emphasis on the impact on the lives of those affected. Copies of files are also on display, including those of an unofficial employee, a full-time employee and a so-called officer on special assignment (OibE).
The Stasi Documents Archive in Frankfurt (Oder) contains more than 6.000 linear meters of documents from the former district administrations (BV) for state security in Cottbus and Frankfurt as well as from the district offices of these two former GDR districts.
