The crossing with the electrically operated passenger cable ferry, unique in Europe, is a special experience. Since 1894 it has connected the city center with the forest area "Beyond the Lake". The power is supplied via an overhead line, which makes the drive unique and the Straussee ferry is considered a technical monument. The 350-meter-long crossing takes around 7 minutes. During this time, up to 100 passengers can enjoy a unique view of the silhouette of Strausberg's old town.
For exhausted or cold passengers, coffee is always offered, and in winter, mulled wine. The Straussee ferry also serves as an outpost of the Strausberg registry office and can be rented for weddings. It is also available for company trips, private parties or moonlight trips.
