The Strohhaus Neuzelle provides insights into the lives of the former servants of the Neuzelle monastery. It is a gem among the museums in the state of Brandenburg. The house and stable building with thatched roof and rye straw ridge were built in 1780 by the master cloth maker Franz Flickschuh and are among the oldest buildings in the town.
The straw house consists of a living room with a bed corner, a workshop and a pantry. The middle of the house is the black kitchen, which ends in a chimney opening. Here, people and animals cooked over an open fire.
The listed building can be visited. Household items and tools can also be seen in the museum courtyard. The value lies in the original substance and the layout of the rooms from the time it was built.
Guided tours are available upon prior reservation.
