Built between 1883 and 1889, Fort Gorgast is the best-preserved outer fort of the former Prussian fortress of Küstrin. The fort is surrounded by a three-meter-deep and 42-meter-wide moat and, with its blockhouse and gatehouse in front, looks like an old bastion. Among other things, worth seeing is a 90-meter-deep artesian well that is still fully functional and the war powder magazine with its security system.
A visit to the fort is an experience not only for monument lovers, but also for nature lovers. Rare animals and plants can be observed on the hiking trails. The park-like property invites you to linger. In addition, many events take place in and around the fort.
