Weather Museum

Museums
Germany's only Museum of Meteorology and Aerology presents rare treasures from over 100 years of weather research. At the traditional location of aerology, selected historical meteorological measuring instruments, radiosondes and kites are on display. In the Balloon Hall 2 of the weather museum The history of ascent techniques for altitude measurements is brought to life with impressive exhibits. In cooperation with the Richard Assmann Observatory, the museum offers the opportunity to experience a modern-day weather balloon ascent. A walk through Lindenberg along the guidance and information system leads to listed and historically significant buildings and properties.

The weather museum also offers fascinating insights for those interested in geology, as the climate causes profound changes in the landscape. Lindenberg is a traditional location for aerology and is home to one of two observatories of the German Weather Service. The Lindenberg Meteorological Observatory was founded in 1905 by Richard Aßmann as the "Royal Prussian Aeronautical Observatory" and played a central role in the development of aviation and the study of the higher layers of the atmosphere. The weather museum aims to demonstrate the pioneering research work of the Lindenberg Observatory in the first century of its existence and its current significance.
