The Wirchensee With an area of 36 hectares, it is the highest lake in the Schlaubetal Nature Park. It is idyllically situated in the forest, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and is subject to special protection regulations. The only development is the Waldseehotel on the peninsula on the northern shore. A roughly 4-kilometer circular path leads around the lake and offers good access on the eastern and southern shores, some of which are covered in weeds.

The fishing waters are located within the protected area of the Schlaubetal Nature Park. Boats are permitted only from July 1st, and only with human-powered boats belonging to the Waldseehotel, to avoid disturbing ospreys and sea eagles. Anglers should keep their distance from reeds and water lilies to protect plants and animals.
