The Woltersdorf lock connects the Berlin waterway with the Rüdersdorf waters. The first dam was built in 1556.
1640 it was converted into a chamber lock. This lock was particularly important for the Rüdersdorf limestone deposit.
Around the year 1850 15.000 to 16.000 ships passed through the Woltersdorf lock to transport up to 216.000 cubic meters of limestone.
The construction of the current lock system was 1884 completed.
Bis 1959 The road bridge consisted of a two-part folding structure with a mechanical lifting drive and a pedestrian bridge in front. This wooden bridge was then replaced by a simple folding bridge with a hydraulic drive and a steel pedestrian bridge.
The boats can now be watched from the high pedestrian bridge while the raised bridge makes the cars wait.
