Special autumn holiday programs are offered by the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park, whose visitor center is at Storkow Castle. The weather museum in Lindenberg and the Rüdersdorf Museum Park also offer holiday experiences. There you can do crafts and experiments to your heart's content.
Especially on cold days, a visit to the region's numerous museums is worthwhile. The Oderbruch Museum in Altranft attracts visitors with its oversized wooden marble run, the Fire Brigade and Technology Museum in Eisenhüttenstadt fascinates with huge, historic vehicles, and the Music Museum at Beeskow Castle enchants with its self-playing instruments. The exhibition at Storkow Castle, which focuses on the region's flora and fauna, is also very family-friendly and interactive.
Why not go to the cinema again? Snuggled up in comfortable seats with a portion of popcorn on your lap, you can enjoy family films in Bad Saarow, Fürstenwalde, Beeskow, Buckow or Erkner. A visit to the Frankfurt Theater des Lachens or the Theater am Rand in Zollbrücke is also recommended.
If you like animals, you shouldn't miss a visit to one of the many animal and wildlife parks in the region. In the wildlife park in Frankfurt (Oder), run by the Gronenfelder Werkstätten, fallow deer will eat out of your hand. A little insider tip is the pet garden in Mallnow or the Oderbruchzoo in Altreetz. The region's great fun attractions include the Scharmützelbob in Petersdorf near Bad Saarow with its year-round tobogganing fun and the indoor duel arena. And the "Scharmuntzelland" in Wendisch Rietz with the perfect combination of animal and leisure park makes every visit an experience for young and old.
Since swimming or splashing around is a popular leisure activity at any time of year, these excursion tips should not be missed. There are two swimming and water parks in the travel region: the Schwapp in Fürstenwalde and the Inselbad in Eisenhüttenstadt.

The entertaining late riser tours with tour lengths of between 5 and 10 kilometers are also perfect for families and lead, among other things, along the "Wupatz's educational trail" in Erkner or in Märkische Schweiz, on the tracks of the beavers, a circuit around the Däberseen near Waldsieversdorf. On the shore hike to the Straussee, the whole family can take the passenger cable ferry, which is unique in Europe, across the lake to the so-called "beyond" and from the observation tower in the Rauener Mountains you can look forward to breathtaking views of the colorful nature and start the odd test of courage challenge.
Birdwatching is also sure to be exciting for many children. We have identified some good birdwatching areas in the Oder-Spree Lake District. This means that observation from the observation tower on the Groß Schauener lake chain can be perfectly combined with a short hike on the nature trail and a visit to the interactive Sielmann nature exhibition on the Köllnitz nature estate.
