The Schlaubetal adventure begins at Jacobsdorf (Mark) station on the A400 excursion line. From here, the journey takes you directly into a landscape considered the most beautiful stream valley in Brandenburg – and only about an hour from Berlin. Those who board will soon find themselves in a world of tranquil lakes, rustling forests, and narrow paths.
The A400 runs on weekends and public holidays from April 1 to October 31, 2025. It can be combined with the PlusBus 400, which runs hourly on weekdays and every two hours on weekends between the Beeskow and Eisenhüttenstadt train stations. This makes hiking in the Schlaubetal valley a perfect option for combining with a train journey from Berlin or Brandenburg—for example, via the RE1 in Jacobsdorf (Mark) or the RB36 in Beeskow.
The departure times make the service particularly flexible: The first departure from the A400 from Jacobsdorf (Mark) is at 09:27 a.m., the last at 18:27 p.m. The first return bus arrives in Jacobsdorf at 11:26 a.m., and the last return bus is at 20:26 p.m. A late return bus from Müllrose at 20:03 p.m. brings guests to Jacobsdorf in time at 20:26 p.m., with a direct connection to the RE1 train towards Berlin at 20:38 p.m. This allows for all-day hikes, after-work tours, or short late-night hikes.
The Schlaube Valley Hiking Trail is 28 kilometers long and can be hiked in its entirety from two sides: starting either in Müllrose, the gateway to the Schlaube Valley, or at the idyllic Wirchensee, where the Schlaube River originates. Thanks to the intermediate stops along the A400, hikers can enjoy the trail in stages or opt for circular hikes. This means there's something for every ability and fitness level. The trail delights with its variety: sometimes it leads along narrow paths beside clear lakes, sometimes through dense forests or across open clearings. Time and again, the landscape surprises with new views and atmospheres – an experience that's ideal for both experienced hikers and day-trippers.
In addition to the existing catering options, there are great picnic options to take away that are easy to carry and ideal for on the go. Lovingly packed with regional specialties, they transform any rest stop into an open-air restaurant—whether on the shore of a lake, in a clearing, or in the middle of the forest.
