Highlights and program items
Some particularly worth seeing contributions from the extensive program:
• Steam engine of the Jena estate distillery (Cöthen): The oldest original steam engine in Berlin and Brandenburg, dating from 1875, opens from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m. The visitor experience will be accompanied by lectures, a café, and the EX-ZESS! art exhibition.
• Pyramid Garzau-Garzin: The otherwise closed pyramid hall (octagon) is opened and visitors are informed about the symbolic building.
• Müncheberg Parish ChurchFrom 13 p.m. to 16 p.m. there will be guided tours of the church, including a climb up the church tower.
• Brecht-Weigel-Haus (Buckow – Märkische Schweiz): between 12 and 18 o'clock there will be an action day with free admission including an exhibition opening.
• Neuzelle Monastery and Straw House: free guided tours
• Storkow Castle: Between 10 a.m. and 17 p.m., there are interactive tours on topics such as reconstruction, the city's treasures, and a new permanent exhibition (glacier tunnel, soil laboratory, cabinet of curiosities) - visitors can also look forward to a special exhibition entitled "Bicycle & Freedom."
• Castle Beeskow: Free guided tours take place regularly between 11 a.m. and 16 p.m.
• Xaver Scharwenka's Musenhütte (Bad Saarow): Brandenburg's only music museum opens from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the listed building, a performance by the "invisible pianist," and the exhibition "Saarow Personalities."
• Schloss Hubertushöhe: The castle owner guides you through the historic building and the castle park.
• Erkner motorway maintenance depot : Visitors can view the motorway history collection from 10 a.m. to 15 p.m. – with guided tours at 10:15 a.m., 12 p.m. and 00:13 p.m.
• Kersdorf lock: Free guided tours, family activity day
• Museum courtyard at Sonnenluch with local history museum (Erkner): Historically dressed actors show scenes from the settlement of the Palatinate colonists in 1750, including music, dance, arts and crafts, a café and petting zoo – open from 11 a.m. to 17 p.m.
The program includes numerous other fascinating monuments and cultural offerings in the Oder-Spree Lake District:
• Local history rooms in Letschin, monastery church and Long House in Altfriedland, manor house of the future (Neuhardenberg)
• The individual monument “Brandstraße” in Beeskow, Friedland Castle or the House of Change in Heinersdorf
• Town hall with water tower in Neuenhagen or the Rüdersdorf Museum Park
• Fieldstone churches in Rehfelde and Werder or the Eisenhüttenstadt monument with the Hotel Lunik and the Museum of Utopia and Everyday Life
The Open Monument Day® offers an excellent opportunity to discover the region's cultural monuments in a unique atmosphere – often with free guided tours, exhibitions, and activities. Many venues invite you to experience the scenic beauty of the Lake District while enjoying a bike ride or hike.

Parallel to the Open Monument Day, the Odervorland district traditionally also hosts the event “NatureCulture” instead.
