Working where others go on holiday brings joy.

With a social media campaign, the Oder-Spree Lake District wants to strengthen the image of working in the catering and hotel industry.

With videos they want to show “faces” and introduce the people who work behind the scenes to create unforgettable moments in the most water-rich travel region. Corona, the increase in truck tolls and the abolition of the 7% VAT on food in restaurants as well as the shortage of skilled workers - these are some of the problems the industry has had to contend with in recent years. At the end of last year, the Tourism Association, together with the Brandenburg Hotel and Restaurant Association, had already carried out a campaign against the abolition of the 7% VAT on food in restaurants. Now the Seenland Oder-Spree team wants to help counteract the ongoing shortage of skilled workers in the industry. They visited restaurants and hotels in the Oder-Spree Lake District with their cameras and met chefs, restaurant managers, restaurant clerks and trainees who practice their profession with a lot of heart and passion. They reported on the constant improvement of working conditions in the catering industry and how much joy it brings to give people a nice day.
