Seenland Oder-Spree starts the 2022 picnic season

A total of 36 businesses from across the Oder-Spree lake district have been recruited as project partners, including restaurants, farm shops, cultural institutions, and tourist information centers. They are all eagerly anticipating the launch on Easter Sunday and have lovingly prepared picnic supplies. These are as diverse as the picnic spots themselves. For example, picnic baskets filled with delicious treats will be available at the Altlandsberg Castle Estate, in Neuhardenberg, at the SaarowTherme spa, and at the Woltersdorf ferry terminal. Tourist information centers in Fürstenwalde, Frankfurt (Oder), Grünheide, Eisenhüttenstadt, and Bad Freienwalde, among others, have opted for rustic and practical picnic bags filled with tasty goodies. This allows picnickers to easily take their provisions with them and combine their picnic with a stroll through town or a short bike ride. Backpacks will be available at the Siehdichum Forestry House, the tourist information center at Storkow Castle, and in Wendisch Rietz. This way, one could enjoy a hike before or after the picnic. Of course, no visit to the lake district would be complete without picnic options for fish lovers. The Schneider fish farm in Kuhbrücke and the Köllnitz fishery in Groß Schauen offer fresh smoked fish specialties in idyllic surroundings. Besides activities, you can also combine your picnic with fantastic events this season. For example, the free classical concerts called "Summer Sounds" will once again take place in the twin cities of Frankfurt and Słubice during the summer months. In Hoppegarten, picnic baskets are available on race days, and in Strausberg, "Die Andere Welt Bühne" (The Other World Stage) invites you to enjoy theatrical performances alongside culinary delights. In addition to regional delicacies and eco-friendly picnic supplies, all picnickers receive lovingly designed information folders containing a map with insider tips for special picnic spots in the surrounding area, as well as inspiration for further excursions and cultural highlights. Here we once again collaborated with the cultural tourism network from Fürstenwalde. When selecting suitable picnic locations, the focus was placed on culturally or scenically outstanding places within the tourism association's destination area. These include manor houses with their gardens, castles or fortresses with their adjacent parks and green spaces, nature parks, and special riverbanks or beaches overlooking charming lakes, the Oder, and the Spree.
