With the A400 to the Schlaubetal
Until October 31st, the popular A400 excursion line will once again run criss-cross through the fascinating Schlaubetal on weekends and public holidays, taking day-trippers from the train station in Jacobsdorf to the most beautiful hiking hotspots in an environmentally friendly way! Hop on - Hop off is the motto, because hiking enthusiasts can get on and off along the route as they please and discover the breathtaking nature and the mills as exciting witnesses to history. While they were once the most important source of energy, powered by the water of the Schlaube, today they are popular places to stop for a break or exciting "lost places". The fact that the Oder-Spree district has ordered the excursion line again in 2024 and has even extended it to include the Schlaubemühle/Wirchensee stop underlines the appreciation for tourism in our travel region of Lakeland Oder-Spree. With the help of audio announcements at the respective stops in the buses and the presentation of the excursion tips on Komoot, the service for day-trippers was also increased this season.
As the gateway to the Schlaubetal valley, the officially recognized resort town of Müllrose is the entry ticket to this hiking paradise and the first bus stop. Here begins the certified Schlaubetal hiking trail , marked by a blue "S" on a white background. However, with its small and large Müllrose lakes, the charming old town with the Schlaubetal information center, and its small cafes and restaurants, the town itself is well worth at least a stroll and a short stay beforehand.
The circular hiking trail around the idyllic Wirchensee lake, through which the Schlaube river flows, is recommended in every season. Thanks to the pleasant route, easily walkable paths, and numerous benches, this tour is suitable for everyone. You can get off your car at the Wirchensee parking area and begin the nearly 5-kilometer loop. After your hike, you can enjoy refreshments at the restaurant in the Waldseehotel am Wirchensee.

Without a car to the river with the Oderbus 879
Immerse yourself in the Oderbruch and discover a unique landscape with extensive nature, a fascinating history and surprising cultural highlights. Just 50 kilometers northeast of Berlin, the excursion route 879, commissioned by the Märkisch-Oderland district, offers a connection to the banks of the Oder, the Oder-Neisse cycle path and to interesting destinations in the surrounding area. The so-called Oderbus runs every Saturday until the end of October. On the first trip of the month, a tour guide accompanies the excursionists to the Bruch. But during the other trips, too, you will be well informed about all the sights along the route via audio guide.
The first stop from Bad Freienwalde is the village of Schiffmühle, where Theodor Fontane's father once lived and where the Fontane Museum is now well worth seeing. You should also get off the tour bus in Zollbrücke. In the 18th century there was only one bridge that crossed the Oder and gave the small town its name. Today Zollbrücke is a popular destination: the unique theater on the edge delights with theater performances, concerts and readings and the tiny village also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine. From Zollbrücke you can take a short hike or bike ride along the Oder towards the Europabrücke. The gigantic structure was once a railway bridge and today allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Oder between Neurüdnitz and Siekierki and reach new excursion destinations. Many interesting information boards and a viewing platform are further highlights on the longest Oder bridge. Neulietzegöricke is considered the oldest and best preserved colonial village in the Oderbruch. During a walk you can admire the many half-timbered houses, the village green and the late classicist village church and then stop off at the “Kolonistencafé”.
