The information center of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park with its nature park exhibition is the ideal starting point for a short trip into the nature park directly at the nature park center. 

Short distances, easy accessibility and high comfort invite you to a short trip with numerous moments of enjoyment.

Arrive & Take Off

The car can be conveniently parked in the free parking lot “Schlossstraße” directly at Storkow Castle. 

From here you have a fantastic first view of the historic castle complex and can visitor center of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park visit.

Start at the tourist information and first refreshment

During your visit to the Storkow Tourist Information Center you can obtain further information and also use the barrier-free toilets. 

You can enjoy delicious refreshments in the castle's ground-floor café, the Burgstübchen, with home-baked cakes.

In the permanent exhibition of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park “Fundamentally different - The Paturpark from bone dry to soaking wet”, you can get an excellent overview of the diverse natural area around Storkow in a stimulating and multimedia way, with many tactile exhibits. The nature park exhibition is complemented by changing and always exciting special exhibitions. 

Afterwards, a ground-level, paved walk around the castle invites you to get your first glimpse of the nature park. This is also the ideal starting point for a short trip into the nature park!

Would you like some refreshment beforehand? The restaurant opposite the castle invites you to enjoy culinary specialties.

A small circular hiking trail “Nature Park in Miniature” invites you to experience nature parks such as water buffalo, the Insect Paradise Garden and the Great Storkow Lake. 

Directly outside the gates of the castle you can visit the Insect Paradise Garden, a small show garden with an insect hotel, wildflower meadow, perennial bed and a bee wagon.

The Schlossstraße continues past the water buffalo pasture, which has become quite famous in Storkow. The impressive animals are used specifically for landscape maintenance, as the hollows created by footsteps increase biodiversity.

At the end of Schlossstrasse, turn left into Eichendorffstrasse and then take the lakeside promenade to the Great Storkower Lake. Here, the natural bathing area Karlslust invites you to go for a swim and/or the Bistro am Gänsewerder invites you to take a break. The way back to the castle is via Wiesengrund and Burgstrasse.

Would like more?

On a comfortable walk you can wander through selected parts of the castle, the old palace, the castle tower and across the castle courtyard. 

Afterwards, you can visit the local regional shop. 

A barrier-free toilet is available.
