Travel in comfort and in the footsteps of Otto von Schwerin

In 1658, Otto von Schwerin had the Altlandsberg castle estate built. The future King Frederick I spent his youth here - a truly royal place to spend a day in a historical atmosphere in comfort.

Arrive and Go

The first port of call is the town information office on the castle estate. Here you can browse maps and information materials for the entire region in East Brandenburg - and enjoy a coffee while you do so. The team will be happy to advise you on tours around Altlandsberg, restaurants, events and much more.

The Schlossgut shop is particularly recommended, where you can buy freshly brewed craft beer, Altlandsberger spirits and many other regional products from mustard and honey to handmade soaps and herbal mixtures. Here you will find a souvenir for every taste.

You can park your car directly in front of the city information office on the Schlossgut Altlandsberg.

Night watchman tour of the Altlandsberg Castle Estate

At the town information office you will meet Ulrich Handke, the traditionally costumed night watchman of Altlandsberg. During a leisurely stroll through the castle estate with its easy-to-walk paths and several places to sit, the night watchman will tell you a wealth of information about the history of the historic site.

Together you will follow in the footsteps of Otto von Schwerin, who as a diplomat and first minister of the Electorate of Brandenburg was of decisive importance in the creation of the Prussian state. Another illustrated resident of the castle was the first Prussian King Frederick I, who acquired the castle estate and the Altlandsberg lordship in 1708.

coffee and break

At the end of the tour, you will stop off at the Altlandsberg town information center for a leisurely coffee. Here you will also have the opportunity to enjoy culinary delicacies from the region.

How about a glass of Wriezen mustard from the Oderbruch or handmade beer pralines made from the house's own copper beer.
