My favorite tip for adventurers

You can perfectly explore Brandenburg's water kingdom along the 66-lake hiking trail and train your fitness at the same time.

My favorite stage runs along the Gamengrund. Here, you hike through the fragrant, mystical forest, which constantly changes its character, and pass eight lakes with idyllic natural swimming spots. A few elevation gains and lost places also make this stage so special. 

... and don't forget the hammock!

My favorite place: The Henzendorfer Heide

A few years ago I moved from Berlin to the Oder-Spree Lake District, where I was fascinated by the beauty of Brandenburg's nature. I have become particularly fond of the pristine nature in the Schlaubetal Nature Park.

Here I can relax from morning to night and discover new, exciting places every day. 

My special tip: A hike through the blooming Henzendorfer Heide.

My favorite place: The Oderbruch

Since I got to know and love the Oderbruch a few years ago, I have always been drawn there and now I have stayed. Here I can let the wind blow around my nose while cycling and enjoy the vastness.

My special tip: dangle your legs on the huge swings at the loading tower in Groß Neuendorf. 

My favorite route: The Märkische Schlössertour

Living where others like to go on holiday. I am grateful for this opportunity every day. And now I can also show guests and interested press representatives the beautiful sides of the Oder-Spree Lake District. Beautiful forest and meadow landscapes that can be explored on foot or by bike alternate with countless lakes on whose shores you can recharge your batteries or even soak up the sun.

The Lake District not only has nature to offer, but also a lot of interesting sights. Frankfurt (Oder), Neuzelle and Altlandsberg are just a few of the many "cultural beacons" in our region. And the numerous, still well-preserved castles, manor houses and estates with their impressive parks are a real special feature of our region.

That’s why I recommend the “Märkische Schlössertour”, where you can also choose small day-long bike tours.

My tip: Late riser tour - Through the Annafließ to the Herrensee and Straussee lakes

I deliberately moved to the Oder-Spree lake district because I am fascinated by the diversity of nature with its many lakes, rivers, forests and the wide landscape.

I am thrilled to get to know the region from many different perspectives, whether hiking, cycling or canoeing. 

My tip: For the cold and dark time of year, I recommend the late-riser tours. These offer a chance to explore the Oder-Spree lake district on shorter yet appealing tours.

My favorite place: Bad Saarow 

I grew up in the lake district and experienced the special atmosphere of this water-rich region from an early age.
I love being on the shores of the many lakes, looking into the clear water and enjoying the diversity of the landscape.

However, Bad Saarow on Lake Scharmützel is my absolute favorite place. This charming spa town uniquely combines idyllic lakeside landscapes, elegant villas, and modern wellness facilities.

My tip: The Schmeling circular trail
The approximately 5-kilometer-long tour leads past historic houses and winds through the Wierich meadows, where the healing peat is still harvested today. Along the way, visitors not only gain insight into the local traditions but also have the opportunity to discover rare and unique plant species.

My tip: Along the Spree

For a day off, I love to head out onto the water. Paddling a kayak through the Spree river landscape, enjoying nature, and simply seeing where the water takes me. Time seems to slow down a bit on the water – and that's exactly what makes it the perfect escape for me. 

I prefer to start in Hangelsberg and paddle off from there at a leisurely pace. After only a short time, you're surrounded by nature and can simply leave everyday life behind. For me, there doesn't even need to be a specific destination – the journey itself on the water is the best part.

I am fascinated by beauty in all its facets – in nature as well as in what humans have created. My training in tourism and art shapes my view of our region: I discover shapes, colors, perspectives, and special details.

I prefer to travel on foot with my sketchbook. I've grown particularly fond of Eisenhüttenstadt. I'm fascinated by the idea behind this city, once planned as a socialist ideal city, as well as its spacious, clearly composed structure. The wide spaces, axes and rhythms, geometric forms, and the interplay of architecture and open space constantly allow me to discover new perspectives here.

And then there's Neuzelle – a wonderful contrast. The baroque opulence, the abundance of forms and details, and the special atmosphere never fail to amaze me.

My tip: Take your time to look more closely! Eisenhüttenstadt and Neuzelle could hardly be more different – ​​and precisely for that reason, they showcase two very different kinds of beauty.

My tip: The Glubigseen chain

My childhood, steeped in nature in the Oder-Spree lake district, was unforgettable. Cycling to the lake or taking walks in the woods – I did all of this daily, and quite unconsciously, I was already experiencing the "micro-adventure of the Glubig Lakes Chain" back then. This late-riser tour is defined by unspoiled nature, a hidden spring, and almost deafening silence. The route, which offers a mix of forest bathing and lake swimming, starts in Wendisch Rietz and circles three interconnected lakes – the Glubig Lakes Chain. Here, you can rest and enjoy a leisurely picnic at the various viewpoints or a snack halfway along the route at Springsee.

My special tip: Why not rent a canoe and experience a similar tour from a completely different perspective with the late riser tour “Between water lilies and grass snakes – canoe tour from Lake Scharmützel to the Glubig lake chain ” – at eye level with grey herons, grass snakes and water lilies.

My favorite place to unwind: Lake Scharmützel

I'm constantly drawn back to nature – especially to the water. I quickly find peace on Lake Scharmützel. As soon as I'm out on the boat, my mind clears and everyday life fades into the background.
I usually don't need a specific destination. I simply set off and enjoy the vastness and the feeling of being on the water.

A trip from Wendisch Rietz to Bad Saarow remains particularly memorable. Spending the evening relaxing in the spa gardens, strolling along the water, and enjoying the sunset from a jetty – that's what relaxation means to me.
My tip: Just set off without a big plan and take your time. Because sometimes the most beautiful moment isn't waiting at the destination, but somewhere along the way.
