Business Portal

For hosts and tourism providers

Of course, we all agree: Our Oder-Spree Lake District is not only rich in water, but also beautiful. But to really win the hearts of visitors, it takes more than breathtaking nature. Above all, it takes the people here, who make this region something unique with their hospitality and commitment.

Under the motto “This is your Lake District Oder-Spree”, we would like to introduce our guests not only to the landscape, but above all to the people behind the scenes. They are the ones who make the Lake District Oder-Spree a very special place.

That is why our goal is to network and support all stakeholders and tourism providers. Because together we are stronger - a "we" is better than a "you and me".

Whether you want to become part of the Brandenburg content network, need support in developing attractive offers, are aiming for a star classification for your accommodation, or want to place your event in the event calendar - with us you will find the right contact person for your request.

Let's work together to make the Oder-Spree Lake District even more livable and attractive. We look forward to seeing you!

Content Network Brandenburg

together we are stronger

The cross-state content network Brandenburg is a tourism network that has been collecting a wide variety of tourism-related data for more than 15 years. This includes over 70.000 widely usable POI, event, tour, media and barrier-free data sets for tourism, municipalities and the local population.

The focus is on the POI database (approx. 15.000 active data records, POI = point of interest), 2.000 tours, approx. 40.000 events annually, barrier-free offers and freely usable media).

This data is not only available on our website, but also on the website of the Brandenburg travel destination, third parties (e.g. DB excursion app) and another 2.000 digital output channels and around 320 publicly accessible digital information devices. This means that a reach of many millions of users can be achieved.

Digitalization

always up-to-date

The Oder-Spree Lake District is as colorful as the color palette of the seasons. But how do guests find out about all the special features of the region, sights, restaurants, cycling, hiking or canoeing tours? Many guests today no longer want to carry a large number of flyers with them and still want to be able to get information 24 hours a day and not just during the opening hours of the respective information points. Digital information media offer a wide range of possibilities here.

In the area of digitalization, Seenland Oder-Spree eV has been successfully contributing to the Brandenburg-wide strategy for years. At the state level, there are databases in which tourism-relevant data is entered and stored (we have just introduced them to you). The MeinBrandenburg software is available through a project by the Cluster Tourism Brandenburg, whose cooperation partner is Seenland Oder-Spree eV.

What is MyBrandenburg?

The guest has found inspiration, information and booked on the Internet. Then the time has finally come. He comes and spends “the best time of the year” in the Oder-Spree Lake District. After arriving at the accommodation of his choice, he relaxes and falls onto the bed. And just a short time later they are there: the most frequently asked questions from visitors.

“What should I definitely watch?”
“What events are there for children?”
“Where can I eat well around here?”
“Is the museum open now?”

These questions can now also be answered digitally. The software "MeinBrandenburg" displays information from the central databases used throughout Brandenburg for POIs, events and bookable offers on all digital devices.

Hotels and restaurants, but also cultural and leisure facilities can themselves become small tourist information centers. And licensees can also promote your own offers, highlights and special promotions.

The MeinBrandenburg software can be used by any tourism service provider in the region through a license agreement with the Tourism Cluster after consultation with Seenland Oder-Spree eV used free of charge

the Klassifizierung

Quality is a top priority here!

If you want to be on the safe side when choosing your holiday accommodation, you can rely on the DTV stars. The yellow, eight-pointed symbols shine on around 30.000 holiday accommodations in Germany. The award signals that this holiday accommodation has been rated and classified based on nationwide uniform criteria.

Depending on the facilities and service, one to five stars are awarded - from simple to exclusive. This way, guests know what to expect. Independent inspectors trained by the DTV have been assessing holiday accommodations since 1994. The award is valid for three years. Holiday homes, holiday apartments and holiday rooms (with a maximum of nine beds) are classified. Holiday parks and unusual accommodations such as tiny houses, tree houses or houseboats can also be classified.

Workation in the Lake District

Combining vacation and work

© Daniel Seiffert

The trend towards workation has been increasing for several years. Accordingly, the demand for accommodation and coworking spaces has also increased.

In order to meet this trend, we have decided to promote and present coworking spaces separately. The following criteria must be met in order to be included as a coworking space in our tourism network:

  • Offer of bookable workspaces (e.g. separate workspace, meeting rooms, rest areas/telephone rooms, workshops/creative rooms, etc.)
  • a stable internet connection
  • technical infrastructure (e.g. printer/scanner)

Does your property meet these criteria? Then please contact us!

Water Tourism Study 2024

Economic Effects of Water Tourism in Berlin and Brandenburg

The new study highlights the impressive development of water tourism in the Berlin-Brandenburg region since 2014. In addition to strong growth in boat charters, canoe rentals and marinas, the analysis also highlights key challenges such as the lack of berths and skilled workers as well as the maintenance of infrastructure. It underlines the economic importance of the industry, which creates jobs and improves the quality of life, especially in structurally weak regions.

A look ahead to 2030 shows that sustainability and cooperation remain essential to ensure the attractiveness of the unique water landscape.

The follow-up guest survey 2024 for the travel region Seenland Oder-Spree analyzes the developments and challenges of the last five years based on the opinions of 588 guests surveyed. The results show that proximity to nature and water are key reasons for travel, with hiking and cycling being particularly popular. The majority of guests travel by car, but use of the train is increasing. Many visitors are repeat visitors, having become aware of the region primarily through recommendations or radio. Satisfaction with the landscape, water activities and hospitality is high, but there is potential for improvement in digital presence and sustainability communication. Recommendations for action include greater integration of social media, partnerships with influencers and more targeted promotion of sustainable offers.

Tourism Acceptance Study 2024

How the local population perceives tourism in the Oder-Spree Lakeland region

© Seenland Oder-Spree / Florian Läufer

The current study is the first comprehensive study to examine the attitude of locals towards tourism in the Oder-Spree Lakeland region. With a tourism acceptance balance of +40, tourism is perceived positively overall, particularly due to its economic importance and image promotion. However, there are also critical voices, especially with regard to environmental pollution and traffic problems.

While 44% of respondents consider the number of tourists to be too low, 43% perceive a burden on nature. The analysis also shows that locals with a direct economic connection to tourism tend to have a more positive attitude. Perceptions have been influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic - 40% of respondents said that their view has changed as a result.

Recommendations to promote acceptance include stronger communication of the positive effects of tourism, consideration of ecological aspects and transparent involvement of the population in tourism development.

Economic Factor Tourism 2024

Economic importance of tourism for the Oder-Spree Lakeland region

The current study analyses the economic relevance of tourism for the Oder-Spree Lakeland region. With an annual gross turnover of around 617 million euros and around 14.760 income equivalents, tourism is an important economic factor. The hospitality industry, retail and various service providers in particular benefit directly from tourism expenditure.

The region records around 18 million day trips and almost 2,9 million overnight stays in commercial accommodation establishments every year. Day trippers and overnight guests generate roughly the same amount of revenue, although the average daily expenditure of overnight guests is higher.

In addition to direct value creation, tourism contributes significantly to tax revenue, particularly through value added tax and income tax. Investments in infrastructure and the quality of services are essential to securing economic potential in the long term.

The study underlines the importance of tourism as a job engine and economic driver in the region and recommends a targeted further development of sustainable and high-quality tourism offers.
