Once you arrive at the train station in the cathedral city of Fürstenwalde, it is not far to the late riser adventure. Follow Trebuser Straße to the left, which then becomes B168. Once you arrive at Trebuser Lake, the adventure can begin.

From the cathedral city of Fürstenwalde into nature
Your late riser tour begins after just a 30-40 minute train ride at Fürstenwalde station. You follow the Oder-Spree tour towards Erkner and let the yellow owl on the signs guide you. We can recommend a short detour to the city's landmark. St. Mary's is one of only two cathedral buildings in the state of Brandenburg and has the largest organ in the state.

Perfect bike path with wonderful views
But now you're heading quickly into nature. You're passing Trebus. In addition to the lake with a small bathing area and the pretty church, it's the GDR nostalgia that catches your eye. Collectors have recreated a historic gas station and a Konsum, as the shops were called back then. It's worth taking a look over the fence.
The route continues north on a car-free cycle path. Let your eyes wander, breathe in the vastness. In spring, you fly over yellow, fragrant rapeseed fields. This makes cycling fun!

Nature Conservation at Maxsee
Now you dive into the fragrant forest and the tour turns west. At the turnoff to the Neue Mühle manor house there is a sign that tells you exciting background information about the Maxsee, which is only a few meters away, and the adjacent limestone moor. The Löcknitz river flows through the region with its fen forest and swampy areas, making it a special protected area. The moor was renaturalized as part of the "nothing happens without moss" initiative. Meadow breeders and migratory birds such as lapwings and cranes benefit. You can take a short detour: we have marked the natural path to the lake that leads past the manor house in the routing.

Olympic vibe
Continue through the forest towards Kienbaum. Here you will pass the Olympic and Paralympic Performance Center on Lake Liebenberger. There is a lovely rest area next to the rowing center right on the lake. Top athletes from a wide range of sports train here in the wooded air and far away from the hustle and bustle of the Olympics and the like. Maybe you can watch the rowing athletes training. Fun fact: top GDR athletes once struggled in a bunker under the site. A height of up to 4.000 meters was simulated in a vacuum chamber in order to achieve better performance. The existence of the facility was kept meticulously secret.

lake experience until the finale
Now on the cycle network D route 3, the tour takes you under robinia trees into busier areas. Here, near the Berlin garden neighbors, you pass five more lakes. The Bauernsee is just as tempting with a bathing area and small sandy beach as the Elsensee that follows. The Möllensee is not only popular with campers. You can also use the bathing area at the Nord campsite. The lakes are connected by streams, small brooks. Fish ladders have been installed in some places to make access to the chain of lakes passable for migratory fish species.
A stopover is also possible at Peetzsee and Werlsee. Either in the idyllic beer garden at Heydewirth, in the popular Eiszauber ice cream parlor under the walnut tree or on the largest and most beautiful beach. On the north beach of Werlsee you have a particularly beautiful view of the lake and the Love Island offshore from the sloping beach.
Finally, you roll into Erkner, cross the Löcknitz river and your late-riser tour comes to an end. If you want, do a final check at the tenth and last lake. You can even combine this with a sundowner at the Badebar Erkner at Dämeritzsee. Cheers!
