Directions
The tour starts in Altfriedland, from where a road leads north. At the edge of the village a track branches off to the right, which leads to observation deck am Kietzer See Here you can already see the first birds: in the alder swamp forests along the path, birds are found all year round. Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers and Great Spotted Woodpeckers active. In winter, large groups of goldfinches, while in spring and summer songbirds begin their concert.
After about 300 meters you come to the Kietzer See in sight, and the path leads along the Stobber further north. After a short time you reach the first observation hut on the edge of the forest with a wonderful view over the lake. In every season greylag geese which moult in large numbers in late summer. Great Crested Grebes and Red-necked Grebes can be observed regularly. In the summer months common terns to discover, which stand out with their graceful flight and deeply forked tail. During migration, many Waders the shallow sandbanks as a resting place. cormorants, grey and great egrets are almost always found here.
Another highlight is located further north: a second, lower observation hut offers an even better view of the water surfaces. Especially different duck species such as Mallards, teals, gadwalls, shovelers and goldeneyes can be observed here. In the summer months, Osprey looking for prey over the lake, while the majestic Sea eagle are present all year round.
From here there are two options:

- If you want to extend the round, follow the Stobber further north to the State road 34From there, turn left along the road for about 500 metres before a small path branches off to the south. This leads through a varied landscape to the Klostersee, where in the winter months pygmy merganser and goosander are looking for food. Along the western shore of the lake the path finally leads back to Altfriedland.
