The Neisse Bridge over the Lusatian Neisse between Coschen and Żytowań, opened in 2014, makes it easier for hikers and cyclists to explore the eastern bank of the Lusatian Neisse, where the Krzesiński Park Krajobrazowy landscape nature reserve is located. Covering an area of 8.546 hectares, of which just over 4.700 hectares are in the northern part of the park, the southern part is dominated by floodplain forests and flood meadows, with typical plant and animal species, including around 150 species of birds, lizards, snakes and 33 species of mammals, including beavers and bats. The park's visitors are mainly nature lovers or individual tourists looking for adventure. One such adventure could be finding the way to the headland between the confluence of the Oder and the Neisse, where the Cross of Encounter stands, which was erected after the Oder floods in 1997. It symbolizes the mutual willingness of the residents of both banks to work towards protecting the natural river landscapes, among other things. It also stimulates reflection and helps to develop a feeling for the ancient landscape.
On the journey to Kosarzyn and further to Lake Borek or on to Połęcko by ferry, you can choose either Coschen or the twin town of Guben/Gubin as a starting point. The short distance and the route to Lake Borek are also suitable for untrained and young cyclists. The bridge can be chosen as the first stop. From the Neisse wave, you get your first view of the river, which flows into the Oder not far north of the bridge. From there, it is only two kilometers to Lake Borek. With its recreational opportunities and restaurants, it is a popular destination for summer excursions and bathing fun in the region.
