Arrival/Departure:
- Arrival: S5 / RB26 to Strausberg station, then tram 89 to Schlagmühle stop. Alternatively, go directly to Hegermühle S-Bahn station
- Directions: From Schlagmühle, reach the start of the hike via Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße and Garzauer Straße. From there, it goes directly into the forest.

Quiet and secluded: the Bötzsee
The Bötzsee, a body of water that was formed during the Ice Age, is a real gem. Nestled in a belt of forest and characterized by first-class water quality with visibility of up to four meters, it invites you to enjoy the silence and unwind. Without motorboats, the peace remains undisturbed, while great crested grebes and herons can be observed on the water. In spring, protected wood anemones bloom along the wooded banks, providing additional splashes of color.
idyllic eastern shore
The route starts on the European long-distance hiking trail E11 and later continues on the 66-lakes trail. After a section through the Postbruch recreation area with its fields and weekend cottages, you reach the Bötzsee. A narrow path winds its way along the partly steep bank through shady forest. Idyllic bathing spots, picnic areas and rope swings offer opportunities to pause and enjoy nature to the fullest.
Wild West side
On the west side, the route stays close to nature and offers wonderful views. Sometimes directly on the bank, sometimes a little higher up in the forest, dense stands of trees alternate with open sections. The peace and the feeling of isolation make this part of the route particularly attractive.
Culinary Reward
After the hike, Eggersdorf is the perfect place to end the day in comfort. The family-friendly Bötzsee lido, with its wide sandy beach and various ways to get into the water, invites you to take a last refreshment. Afterwards, the region's culinary highlights beckon: On the terrace of the Hotel Seeschloss, you can enjoy the view over the lake with an ice cream, while the Osteria Del Maiale Pezzato offers a lively atmosphere with hearty snacks.
