Description:
The circular path around Lake Wirchensee leads through a fascinating forest scenery that changes with the seasons: In spring, the variety of green is surprising, while in autumn, the colorful leaves of the trees rustle across the ground.
On the eastern shore, many small steps lead up to the "Forest Watch," which offers a fantastic view of the lake. With a little luck, you might spot sea eagles or ospreys soaring above the water. In autumn, during the rutting season, the bellowing of stags echoes through the tall forest.
Not far away, the Schlaube River flows into Lake Wirchensee. Behind the small bridge that crosses the stream, it springs hidden in the legendary Wirchenwiesen meadows. The path now leads back along the western shore of the lake. Great crested grebes, ducks, and swans glide over the tranquil waters, and the view falls on the Waldseehotel, located on the "Kleiner Horst" (Little Horst). From the large terrace, you can experience the impressive change in the forest colors at sunset.
