Müncheberg, the gateway to Märkische Schweiz, can look back on a long history. A visit to the town center, which is almost completely surrounded by the town wall built in 1319, takes you back to the Middle Ages. The two town gates with their defense towers, the Berlin and Küstrin gate towers, are silent witnesses to this era. The town wall contains the Ice Age Gallery, a part of the wall comprising 27 boulders of Scandinavian origin. The church, which was built as a Cistercian monastery in the 13th century, is particularly interesting from an architectural point of view. It was destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt in the early 1990s. A unique building houses the town library and an event room, both of which are accessible via an elevator. You can cycle to Waldsieversdorf, a state-approved health resort that was re-established 130 years ago on the ridge by the Däberseen lakes. The town's trademark is the old water tower, which now serves as a viewing platform. Waldsieversdorf also had a famous summer guest, the internationally known photo artist John Heartfield. He had a summer house built near his friend Bertolt Brecht on the Däbersee.
