Directions
The tour starts in the Gerhart Hauptmann town of Erkner. Its namesake spent formative years of his creative work here. In the 18th century, under Frederick II, a mulberry tree plantation was established in what is now the city of Erkner to breed silkworms. The attempt to reduce dependence on imports failed. Only a single original tree from the plantation has been preserved on Friedrichstrasse.
The route leads from Erkner through the beautiful nature along the Löcknitz and the Flakensee to Woltersdorf.
After a lunch break at the Woltersdorf lock, the Woltersdorf observation tower on Kranichsberg offers an overwhelming view of the landscape. The 25-meter-high tower also serves as an exhibition space for film history documents on all filming locations in Woltersdorf.
A visit to the museum park in neighboring Rüdersdorf is a must. It is not only an impressive industrial monument to limestone mining, but also an exciting backdrop for numerous film productions and offers many attractions for action fans and amateur researchers.
The return journey with the historic tram on a section of line 88 makes the return trip to Berlin-Friedrichshagen a journey back in time to old transport technology.
