The landscape conservation area along the Spree shows its most beautiful side very early on. The unspoilt banks, lush meadows and dense reed belts with the animals living there begin the day together with you. The longest two-day stage section, around 40 km, is right at the beginning of your great Märkische tour and could bring with it a little headwind.
With two locks and a boat tow, the first beautiful adventures await you along the way. You start at the Spreepark in Beeskow and follow the course of the Drahendorfer Spree into the Spree, where there is a former forester's house on the opposite bank. To ensure that your first section of the tour is not too strenuous, it is best to spend the night in your tent in Neubrück on the Wergensee. On the second day, you will celebrate your debut as a lock master at the Neubrücker self-service lock. The easily explained signs will help you to pass through the lock smoothly.
The second lock is in Fürstenwalde, where you can bring the canoe ashore for the day and start a walk through the cathedral city. The swimming and water paradise offers relaxation for everyone who wants even more water. Visitors who want to stay longer should definitely take a trip to the Rauen Mountains with the Markgrafensteine and the steel observation tower with a wonderful view of the region.
Important NOTE: Lock has been in operation again as a self-service lock since 2020. Important for paddlers with single kayaks: Please have a long rope with a length of at least 1 meters ready so that the lock can be completed alone.
Tip: Visitors who want to stay longer should definitely take a trip to the Rauen Mountains with the Markgrafensteine and the steel observation tower with a wonderful view of the region. It is important to take 1 euro coins with you to get to the observation tower (turnstile with coin slot).
