Start / Finish: Beeskow station / Fürstenwalde station
Length / Duration: 36 kilometers / 3 - 4 hours
The start is in Beeskow, where you can bring your bike from Berlin on the RE1 via Frankfurt (Oder) and the RB 36. Once you get there, we recommend a tour of the ancient town before setting off on the route. The former moated castle from the 13th century offers a sensational view of the surrounding area from its 27-meter-high keep. Today, Beeskow Castle is home to the archive for former GDR art as well as numerous events for those interested in culture. The historic market square, the long city wall and St. Mary's Church are testament to medieval tradition.
The bike tour now leads directly along the gently flowing Spree. The flat route is not strenuous and leaves enough time to enjoy the beauty of the river and the riverbank landscape with its wonderful nature. The places you cycle through are strung together like a string of pearls. It can happen that otters, foxes or herons scurry past the bank if you cycle through the area with your eyes open. Behind the Kersdorfer Bridge there is a beautiful view of the Kersdorfer Lake. The Oder-Spree Canal, which flows directly behind it, is crossed on an impressive wooden bridge for cyclists. It is worth taking a break at the Landgasthof Spreetal with a beer garden and delicious cake in Berkenbrück. Here you can refresh yourself from the tour with a swim in the Spree. At the end of the stage you should definitely plan time for a visit to the Fürstenwalde Cathedral.
