Directions / Things to see and know
Stage 1: Wriezen - Falkenberg/Mark
From the car park in Wriezen, the route goes not far from the railway line and road to Altranft (if you are coming by train, first go to the town lake/car park). Before Rathsdorf, the Stork Tower, the chimney of a former brickworks, catches your eye. The path runs along the railway line. In Altranft, the tracks are crossed. The turn through the town leads to the Brandenburg Open Air Museum in the former castle park. At the end of the town, there is a geological nature trail. In Bad Freienwalde, the Oderlandweg now runs along the route of the tower hiking trail. The path winds its way through the Freienwalder Forest in several bends before you reach the chapel. Again, several bends follow, combined with many ascents and descents, then you suddenly see an impressive ski jump complex, the likes of which are rarely found in the low mountain ranges. A path leads to the B158. After crossing it, you pass the Owl Tower. There are bends, always combined with ascents and descents, until you reach the Teufelsee. At the beginning of the ridge path there is a turnoff to the Bismarck Tower. From the Tobbenberg Hut a sunken path leads to Falkenberg.
Stage 2: Falkenberg/Mark - Wölsickendorf
The hike begins with the ascent to Karlsburg. From there, with bends, ascents and descents, down into an idyllic valley and through the Cöthen park. The sound of the Cöthen river accompanies the hiker through the village. At the end of the village, turn left. The turnoff to the left leads into the Gamengrund nature reserve and further to the small Gamensee. The hike continues along the eastern shore of the lake. Soon you reach the rest area at the Great Gamensee. The path winds its way between several small lakes with water lilies and a few small differences in altitude. An old fieldstone road leads out of the valley and the hike is a pleasant field path lined with hedges to Wölsickendorf.
Stage 3: Wölsickendorf - Wriezen
Behind Wollenberg, the village road becomes a forest path that winds through sparse mixed forest. Turn right on the L35, then follow the markings at the car park onto the forest path that leads through the forest past small ponds. A paved road goes up to the Teller. It goes down to the Baaseemoor, which looks like a flooded alluvial forest. Steps lead over an embankment to the nature trail hut and bring the Baasee into view. The path leads between the moor and the lake past the tallest tree, a mighty Douglas fir, to the forest tavern at the Baasee. Turn left at the car park and continue through the forest to reach Sonnenburg. After leaving the forest, the landscape changes. Sandy paths lead through meadows and fields. The path leads through a dry valley, the Biesdorfer Kehlen nature reserve, with typical vegetation to the forest pool, and then back to the hiking car park at the Stadtsee in Wriezen.
