Through the smallest and oldest nature park in Brandenburg
After just 50 minutes of driving, you'll be on the European cycle route R1 in Trebnitz towards Berlin. A fresh breeze whispers around your ears, your hair flies and you can smell and hear what you've been longing for: blooming nature, the crackling and rolling of the wheels, buzzing bees, twittering birds. If you're lucky, you'll also see storks, red and black kites, sea eagles and cranes.
At Münchehofe, it is worth taking a detour to the Grosser Klobichsee. You can also stop at the Binnendüne natural monument, the babbling Mühlenfließ and the 3 Eichen forest cafe. Here at the environmental center, you can get a free refill for your water bottle, because the next climb is sure to come!

Buckow, my pearl
Hamburg is a pearl, but Buckow is even more so. Fontane said so! It's a steep descent into the pretty little town on the Schermützelsee. Brecht and Weigel had their summer house here. You can visit it and the nature park center. Small streets with burghers' houses and villas lead to the market with cafés. You can also get refreshment at the water treading places of health guru Kneipp: directly on the lake or on the Stobber river near the water mill in the castle park.

Trace of the Fieldstones
From the mountain sheep farm, the path leaves the forest and heads out into the open countryside. You pass dreamy villages with old fieldstone buildings that blend into the picturesque landscape. Wild hedges are green and blooming. Small organic farms produce juice from the region's orchards and fruit avenues.
If you don't mind a bit of Brandenburg sand, follow the tour via Hohenstein to Strausberg. The little adventure on the short trail is worth it with its fantastic views. If you prefer to roll out on asphalt, continue on the R1, admire the fieldstone pyramid in Garzau and get on the bike back to Berlin in Rehfelde. Everyone else can reward themselves in Strausberg with a sundowner at Straussee. You deserve it!

Refreshment tips (mostly regional & organic):
  • Trebnitz, Obersdorf, Münchehofe: Café zum Glück, Gasthaus zur Ostbahn, Café Landei, Imbiss Campingplatz; Waldcafé 3 Eichen; Buckow: various cafes + restaurants
  • Waldsieversdorf: Café Tilia
  • Strausberg: Amiceria
Along the route there are various organic farm shops for tasting and shopping
