start/finish: Bus stop Bremsdorfer Mühle
Mark: diagonal brown line on white square
Description
The tour starts at the bus stop at the Bremsdorf Mill. From there, the trail heads north through deep glacial gullies and tall forests. The Planfließ River soon comes into view. Immediately after the first bridge, the path leads along the narrow bank and follows the water, which meanders, sometimes whispering gently, sometimes gurgling and rippling, through ravines, meadows, and ponds. The ponds were used for many centuries by early settlers, to supply the monks of the Neuzell Cistercian monastery, and until 1989 for fishing.
Not far from the nature trail's junction toward Bremsdorfer Mühle, the Planfließ stream branches off toward the Großer Treppelsee lake. At the shelter, next to old, gnarled pines and overlooking an opening meadow, it's time for a rest before a shared section of the Schlaubetal hiking trail leads back to the bus stop.
