The Historic Town Centers Cycle Route No. 1 offers you the time and opportunity to explore the influence of the Hohenzollern dynasty in Brandenburg. It leads you, among other places, to Neuruppin, whose early Neoclassical cityscape was shaped by Frederick William II. The tour also takes you to Rheinsberg Palace, the court of the muses of Crown Prince Frederick and his brother Henry, as well as into the Oderbruch region, which Frederick the Great once had drained. The thermal brine spa town of Templin is also on your route, as is the spa town of Bad Freienwalde, the "health spring" of Elector Frederick William I.
The route begins in Hennigsdorf near Berlin and runs through the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park, the Zehdenick clay pit landscape, the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park, and the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve to Altlandsberg in the Oder-Spree lake district. Stage maps and tourist city maps will help you find your way.
