There is something for everyone on this route. The tour alternates between small sandy beaches, jetties and quiet bathing areas, ideal for jumping into the cold water in the summer.
The tour starts in Bad Saarow and runs around the Scharmützelsee, which was promptly declared the "Märkisches Meer" by Theodor Fontane. Everywhere, day-trippers come across chic villas, some with extravagant architecture and a lot of history.
Half time is in Wendisch Rietz. You simply can't pass by the place at the southern tip of the lake. The lighthouse in the Scharmützelsee holiday park shows the right way and in summer the yachts and sailing boats line the lock.
If you are more of a romantic type, set off a little later and don't miss the sunset over the Scharmützelsee. From the jetty in Diensdorf-Radlow or in Cecilienpark in Bad Saarow, you can watch the spectacle of the sun setting over the lake in a particularly impressive way.
If you are doing the tour in summer, you should definitely pack your bathing suit in your backpack. There are more than one dreamy bathing spot along the route - just look out for the "bathing spot" signs.
And as an added bonus, there are two more lakes on top: If you want to soak up even more lake love, you can also circle the Großer Storkower See and the Großer Glubigsee.
