Lake Peetzsee is part of the Grünheide chain of lakes and lies between Lake Möllensee and Lake Werlsee. Seating areas along the shore in the Bürgerpark invite visitors to let their gaze wander and simply linger for a moment.
But the route doesn't just lead along the water; it also takes in important chapters of German history. Near the town center, the former home of playwright Georg Kaiser serves as a reminder of a significant 20th-century German-language author. In the Altbuchhorst district, chemist, resistance fighter, and East German regime critic Robert Havemann lived under constant surveillance by the Stasi. His former home still stands today as a symbol of civic courage and a life of conviction.
As an added bonus, the hike can be combined with an approximately two-kilometer-long forest nature trail. This informative path leads from the area around Lake Peetzsee towards the Löcknitz Valley, offering yet another perspective on the forest and its habitats.
Bathtubs
The fine sandy beach at Peetzsee immediately invites you to take a dip. The shallow area, marked off with buoys, is particularly suitable for families and is supervised by the German Lifesaving Association (DLRG) at certain times during the summer. A sunbathing lawn, picnic areas, and a beach volleyball court offer plenty of space for a longer day at the lake.
Refreshment tips: The Heidereuter Inn Located directly on the water at Peetzsee, the restaurant offers homemade specialties made with regional ingredients, hearty classic dishes, and a beer garden with a lake view, perfect for a relaxing break.
For coffee, pastries, cakes or soft ice cream, the Café zur Linden On sunny days, beach chairs in front of the café invite you to relax.
