Start on the Löcknitz Trail
After the RE1 has quickly taken you out of the city, you head straight into nature. Only a few hundred meters separate you from the entrance to the idyllic Löcknitztal. Before heading straight to Werlsee, you first follow the 66-lake trail, which runs parallel to the winding Alte Löcknitz. The forest smells wonderful and in some places you come very close to the enchanted little river. The narrow forest and meadow path, lots of ferns, fallen trees and the many plants in the clear water give you a feeling of adventure. Maybe you can spot beaver tracks or even the kingfisher.

The next highlight is already waiting for you. On the south beach of the Werlsee you will find the ideal place to swim. There is a great sandy beach surrounded by a spruce forest. In addition to sunny spots, the area also offers plenty of shade on hot days. Two small playgrounds in the sand provide variety, where the kids can climb and romp around.

Bevor Ihr Euren Hunger und Durst stillt, kraxelt noch schnell auf den Kellerberg hinauf. Von der Kirche aus habt Ihr einen schönen Ausblick auf den Werlsee. Beim Heidereuter könnt Ihr in den idyllischen Biergarten einchecken. Direkt am Peetzsee gelegen kann man sich nach Lust und Laune stärken, auch mit regionaler Küche. Im direkt daneben befindlichen Bürgerpark gibt es was zum Entdecken. Dort entdeckt Ihr den Lieblingsblick mit Blick auf den Peetzsee, könnt verschiedene Sport- und Spielgeräte ausprobieren oder Ihr chillt einfach - fast so wie im Urlaub.
Stop by the Grünheide heraldic animal
Your tour is slowly coming to an end. Before you take the train back to the city, you should make a short stop at the Löcknitz campus. Here you can observe Grünheide's heraldic animal - the pond turtle - in an enclosure. The endangered animal, which once lived in large numbers in the Löcknitz valley and in the Werlsee, is bred and cared for here. Fun fact: the animals, which are around 20 cm tall, can even live to be 100-120 years old!
