It is a very special experience to walk through the flat floodplain landscape with its lush green meadows. The view is unobstructed for many kilometers. Flora and fauna provide ideal conditions for a diverse range of flora and fauna.
The Oder is one of the largest rivers in Germany and forms the border with Poland. The bizarre landscape is impressive and uniquely beautiful. It looks different in every season - sometimes with extreme flooding and then again with low water levels.
In winter it is a very special experience when the pack ice piles up or the small ice floes dance on the water. This natural spectacle is also known as Brieger geese.
If you are planning a longer hike, you have the option of hiking from the Oder either to Eisenhüttenstadt (5 km) or to Ratzdorf to the mouth of the Oder-Neisse (6 km).
