thoroughly Prussian
Neuhardenberg is a gem in the Brandenburg region, roughly where the centre of the Kingdom of Prussia once was and where the centre of Europe is today. The castle and village church form a classicist ensemble.
Here, too, on the edge of the Oderbruch, the great architect Schinkel often had his hand in the work: the village church is his first work and he had the once baroque castle redesigned in a classicist style in 1823. After several years of construction work, the castle and its two cavalier houses were converted into an international seminar house and hotel. A large number of exhibitions and concerts take place in the castle every year.
