The 66 Lakes Trail is the main hiking trail of Brandenburg and one of the most attractive lowland hiking trails in Germany.
With a length of approximately 4 kilometers, it offers a cross-section of the diverse landscapes in this forest- and water-rich area as a circular route in the middle of the federal state of Brandenburg.
The title describes the outstanding features of this region, but even understates it and by no means comprehensively covers the diversity of landscapes found on this route. The extensive deciduous forests of the northern region, the coniferous forests of the southern routes, the castle and park landscape in the western section, the alluvial forests and secret, untouched natural landscapes in the eastern part are interspersed everywhere with natural streams and rivers, pools, ponds and lakes, which alternate with varied agricultural landscapes and dreamy villages.
