Fishing

in the Seenland Oder-Spree

"... Fishing is the only philosophy from which you get full."

Peter Bamm

There is hardly a fisherman who has not heard this phrase. The fact with becoming full is not completely wrong, but evenly also not completely correct. Who wants to claim never to come home as a "tailor" - that is, without a catch? You know that. Nevertheless, we are always drawn to the water. Whoever asks me why I go fishing, I answer: " Because I don't know if I'll catch anything!" That says it all. Because that is the pleasant thing about this hobby: we can get to the experience even without a result.

Using and protecting nature

If you can see the kingfisher whizzing past your fishing rods like an arrow, if you can hear the deer roar in autumn and if the distinctive smell of the forest wafts into your nostrils, you are in the middle of a nature experience. Is the only thing missing? In the Seenland Oder-Spree we are in the best of hands in this respect: the chances of an exceptional catch are particularly good here.

There are several reasons for this. First of all, nature conservation is integrated into all forms of land use throughout Brandenburg. An area of more than 230,000 hectares is designated as a nature reserve in Brandenburg. This leads to restrictions in fishing in many places and some fishermen will look longingly here and there to the other shore, where he is not allowed to cast his fishing rod for nature conservation reasons - on the one hand. On the other hand, the intact fish stocks in the Seenland Oder-Spree with their natural age pyramids are thanks to precisely such protection and retreat zones.

When relaxation becomes exciting

Let's take a look at ourselves - aren't we fishermen also looking for quiet zones? Deceleration fits into the zeitgeist and can be lived quite excellently in the Seenland Oder-Spree. The pulsating Berlin is only a stone's throw away at the western edge of the water-rich region and yet we feel as if we are in another world when the pose dances gently on the water surface. If the swimmer goes for a dive, the relaxation becomes exciting in no time! A fish has bitten and glides into the landing net after an exciting fight.

- Good luck!

Peace and relaxation - this is where nature conservation comes full circle. In the Seenland Oder-Spree, fishermen enjoy a small privilege: where the way ends for motorized vehicles in designated protection zones, we are allowed to go quite a bit further. We are talking about forest driving permits, which can be applied for. Often this is the only way to get to the waters. It is fair to say that in the Seenland Oder-Spree this is a guarantee of seclusion for us fishermen.

Great freedom with a small boat

To fully explore the waters of the Seenland Oder-Spree, a small fishing barge leads to success. Inaccessible banks, frequented fishing spots and other hustle and bustle can be left behind with just a few strokes of the oar. In almost all waters we have to move the boat with muscle power, because boat motors are only allowed here and there, but this is after all the most primitive way of locomotion. A small echo sounder has long become an affordable companion nowadays and allows a look below the water surface.

Pike, zander, perch and many other species of fish are thus approached. The catching success will not be too long in coming.
