Burg Friedland

Belonging to the group of three Stele castles, Friedland Castle was also part of the possession of the Knights of Strele. The roots of this oldest Lusatian dominion can be found in the castle county of Strehla on the Elbe in Saxony.
In addition to the two Strele castles of Beeskow and Storkow, the castle in the tranquil Friedland
has an impressive and surprising history and is one of the best preserved castles in Brandenburg.

1301 first documented mention
1533 possession of the Order of St. John
1623 Devastating town fire,
1630 - 1658 reconstruction ( until today formative view)
1875 until today property of the town Friedland

In the lovingly furnished museum apartment, familiar images are revived on the basis of 100 years of living culture. Our exhibitions of native animals and historical objects of everyday life are especially vivid for children.

While walking through the gallery you will encounter art and culture in exhibitions of different art styles that change several times a year and perhaps our legendary "White Lady". We also offer guided tours of the castle. For group tours we ask for your prior request, likewise for city tours through Friedland.

A variety of events in a historical atmosphere attract a wide audience every year. A festive wedding room as well as the rental of the castle courtyard, the knights' hall and the fireplace room provide the desired setting for special festivities, but also for conferences.

Castle courtyard up to 300 persons including covered stage
Knights' Hall 45 to 50 persons (only rows of chairs max. 60 persons)
Kaminzimmer 15 to 20 persons (at conference tables)

Our toilets are located in the basement of the castle (not barrier-free).
