"Katholische Stiftskirche St. Marien"

Church

The Neuzell Collegiate Church of St. Mary is known as a Baroque wonder of Brandenburg. The hall church, which is late Gothic at its core, was extensively rebuilt between 1650 and 1750. The richly decorated altars are particularly impressive, turning the church interior into a Baroque theatrical setting. The lavish furnishings with stuccowork, wall and ceiling paintings and the numerous figures, angels and putti originate from the Bohemian cultural area, as the monastery had very close ties to Prague at the time. The overwhelming spatial experience of the collegiate church is unique for the northeast of Germany.

Today, the collegiate church is used as a Catholic parish church. It can be visited individually outside of church services or as part of guided tours during opening hours (reservations at the Neuzelle Visitor Information Office). Students of the Rahnschule Neuzelle developed a special guided tour for young people. This can be downloaded via a QR code.
