"Schlossgut Altlandsberg"

castle property

The Schlossgut Altlandsberg estate is home to a restaurant, a brewery and distillery, the Altlandsberg town information centre and a castle church.

The brewery and distillery were built in 1685 by Baron Otto von Schwerin. There is a restaurant with terrace in the historic vaulted basement. At that time, the brewery was also used as a distillery, storehouse, administration building with court and prison cells and living space for the brewer. The domed hall, banqueting room and conference room in the brewery can be booked for a range of events.

On 7 November 2016, building workers removing layers of turf unearthed a treasure of medieval coins at a depth of about 1 metre in front of the brewing and distilling building. They found a late medieval upright bow container containing silver and gold coins, comprising 11 gold coins, 13 Prague and Meissen silver groschen and 7,426 hollow silver pfennigs. The find will soon be on display in the State Archaeological Museum in Brandenburg an der Havel.

Information about the region can be found at the Altlandsberg town information centre, which is located in the Altlandsberg estate. Leaflets and maps are available here. The estate is the ideal starting point for a number of lovely walks and bicycle tours into the surrounding area.
