The singer and songwriter Leonard Cohen achieved worldwide fame not least through his anthem Hallelujah, which has been celebrated internationally for decades. Shortly before his 80th birthday in 2015, he released a lot of archive material from his life that has never seen the light of day: photos, personal notes, performance recordings and rare interview recordings. With this, the filmmakers Daniel Geller and Dayna Goldfine weave a picture of the musician and his time. They also tell the story of Leonard Cohen´s most famous song, which was rejected by record companies before it was released in 1984 before it climbed the charts: Hallelujah.
